Ballet Creole | Antagonist...
Fleck Dance Theatre Toronto - April 7- 9, 2011

Featuring works by Artistic Director, Patrick Parson, Associate Choreographer Gabby Kamino and Guest Choreographer Jose Carret of Danza Corpus de Cuba.

Extending the language of dance with kinetic, physical and gracefully elegant expressions in tandem with contemporary Diasporic soul, Ballet Creole ushers in a new era in its maturity as one of Toronto’s top dance companies.

Ballet Creole heats up the stage with a sensual and sizzling collection of new and remounted works by some of Canada's top choreographers; Cuban-born choreographer, Jose Carret Morejon premieres an explosive ballet fuelled by Afro-Cuban rhythms entitled "The Antagonist". A duel of the sexes which explores the complexities of relationships and love. Canadian dance icons Danny Grossman and Debbie Wilson remount classic works from their company's repertoire. A unique opportunity not to be missed!

Ballet Creole's Artistic Director, Patrick Parson continues his legacy to innovate, experiment and challenge the boundaries of traditional and contemporary aesthetics with the World Premiere of "Trouchka", an intricate and emotional journey danced to Stravinsky's classical score "Petrouchka". Parson re-ignites this classic Russian story of a doll who comes to life, creating a marriage of movement between contemporary and Afro-Caribbean.  Associate choreographer Gabby Kamino rounds out the program with a new work for the company as well.
