NEW YORK CITY
- KMJ Productions presents the world-premiere new play MONETTE: I Love My Life - a story of truth, joy and learning to love who you are and where you are in that moment - by playwright Kymberle Joseph and directed by Jesse Wooden, Jr. (best known for his award-winning and critically acclaimed productions of MAAFA Suite and Black Nativity). Performances of MONETTE: I Love My Life begin November 3 prior to an official press opening of November 13 at Walkerspace (46 Walker Street) in Manhattan.

With divorce papers in front of her, and her only child off to college, Kennedy "Monette" (played by Jasmine Eileen Coles) is completely alone. How will this soon-to-be-divorced empty nester reclaim her life? In MONETTE: I Love My Life, Ms. Coles plays more than ten characters including Monette's smooth-as-silk African-American father, her folklore tale telling Caribbean mother, and one very uptight best friend in this laugh-out-loud story where joy replaces despair.

Design team for MONETTE: I Love My Life includes: Tracy Bradshaw (set design), William H. Grant III (lighting design), Nicole Rachea (sound design) and Hopie Lynn Burrows (costume design).

Kymberle Joseph is a renaissance woman, among her many talents she includes author, actress, teacher and playwright. As an actress she has been seen on New York stages in THE GAYEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, THAT COLOR BLIND KIND OF LOVE, RUSH HOUR MADNESS, A LYING TRUTH, etc. Her first novel - "Pieces of a Story" - was met with rave reviews. She teaches theatre and acting throughout New York City in the Public Library system as well as through her own acting studio for children (www.standingovationnyc.com). MONETTE marks Ms. Joseph's first play.

Jesse Wooden, Jr. (Director) is an alum of the Lincoln Center Director's Lab and The Black Theatre Network. For 14 years, he directed St. Paul Community Baptist Church's prestigious MAAFA SUITE in East New York Brooklyn and on tour in Atlanta, Bridgeport, CT, Chicago, Dallas and Seattle. Other credits include: the OBIE Award winning LANGSTON HUGHES' BLACK NATIVITY, ...THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES, UNPOPULAR DECISIONS, SIX-NO DOWNTOWN, BEFORE IT HITS HOME, GOOD GRIEF! IT'S XMAS!!, THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED, THE LION IN WINTER etc.

Performances of MONETTE: I Love My Life run November 3 through November 27 on a schedule or Thursday and Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 3:00pm and 8:00pm and Sunday at 3:00pm and 7:00pm (no performance on Thursday, November 24).
