Imagine when you put together thirteen of the youngest generation of Brazilian musicians to play Brazilian Jazz, what you get is Banda Urbana, a big band that plays with great energy and property.

Originally formed in 2006, Banda Urbana is drawing attention in the Sao Paulo music scenario since, playing in Jazz festivals such as the Savassi Jazz Fest and Brasil Instrumental, also been a part of the innovative Movimento Elefantes. Influenced by great big Bands such as; Thad Jones, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Banda Savana, and Banda Mantiqueira, Banda Urbana involves the audience with its unique sound.

On it's first CD, the band brings us compositions by artists such as; Charlie Parker, Lea Freire, Guinga, Djaven, Gilberto Gil and original compositions by Rubinho Antunes, Joao Lenhari, and Bruno Mantiqueira, members of the band. Powerful sound, beautiful melodies, and great solos, this is what you hear when you listen to this band from Sao Paulo.
