TORONTO - Juno award-winning guitar maestro Adam Solomon debuts his new African Blues and Jazz Trio on Saturday July 27, 2013 at Hirut Café located at 2050 Danforth Avenue, Toronto at 8:30 PM.

Adam Solomon sings in six languages, including Swahili, English, and Arabic. "The Professor", as he is known in musical circles, is highly respected as a lead guitarist and vocalist. He performs as a blues soloist as well as with his band Tikisa, creating a unique sound that combines traditional and modern coastal East African rhythms, fiesta, rumba, soukous, makossa and highlife music. He has released three of his own CDs, Safari, Mti Wa Maisha and Rocket Express II: African Renaissance Blues.  Adam Solomon is a member of the Juno award-winning African Guitar Summit and has recorded two albums with the group, titled African Guitar Summit I and II.



The African Blues and Jazz Trio features Adam Solomon on guitar and vocals, bassist Conrad Henderson and Phil Caffery on the drum kit.

Conrad Henderson is an electric and contrabassist and music educator from Melbourne Australia. He is adept in many styles including jazz, Latin, African, Caribbean, R&B and funk. He has performed in various parts of the world and for renowned events.

Phil Caffery is new to Toronto, moving from Providence, Rhode Island, where he taught drums and performed regularly in clubs throughout New England. He was trained in jazz and performed in concert bands and in pit orchestras for numerous theater productions.

Hirut Café specializes in Ethiopian cuisine, a friendly atmosphere and live music on the weekends.  The café is a cozy room that holds a maximum of 50 people. This is an opportunity for the audience to experience music in an intimate setting, as well as interact with the artists.
