January 8, 2012
Carnegie Hall, New York City

NEW YORK CITY - Join eight specially-chosen instrumentalists from the genres of world music, classical music, and jazz, as they bring you on a tour “Around the World in 80 Minutes” instead of 80 days.

The program will include two premieres, “Walk within Winter” by California-based world music composer Brent Heisinger and a new work commissioned for this event from award-winning Israeli film composer Avner Dorman.National Vietnamese champion Van-Anh Vanessa Vo will perform on three traditional instruments, Hawaiian slack-key guitar will have its own rare spotlight in Carnegie Hall, Oud masters of two different cultures will share contrasting solos, a multi-genre violist will “jam” with different combinations, and Western Classical traditions of piano playing will contrast with the phenomenal jazz improvisations of Grammy nominee Taylor Eigsti to close out this special celebration of music’s power to act as a force of nourishment, unity, communication and peace building in the new year ahead.

• Tickets are $35 and up, with children, students and seniors all 40% off with proof of ID at the Carnegie box office.

This special event is designed as a holiday gift for groups of friends or families to experience the magic of these exotic sounds and cultures together, while gaining an awareness of Listen for Life and its powerful mission to support musicians, sustain their cultures and share their music worldwide. The Carnegie event is now the centerpiece of cross-cultural concerts going on around the globe on January 8th, to celebrate Listen for Life Multicultural Music Day worldwide.
