From a media release:

THIS TIME, Featuring The Sweet Inspirations
New York Theatrical Premiere August 10, 2012
at the Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village

NEW YORK CITY - They’ve sung back-up for Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield and Jimi Hendrix, been homeless while their songs were on the charts, and struggled to fill tiny cabarets while fighting for their big break – all the while holding tight to their dignity and to their dreams. A new documentary work by filmmaker Victor Mignatti, THIS TIME explores a world far from the overnight television sensations of “American Idol,” capturing the underbelly of an industry that relies on the ever-present pool of new artists waiting for their chance at stardom.

Accompanied by the soaring music of the gifted artists featured in the film, including the legendary Sweet Inspirations and Cissy Houston, the film tracks the triumphant and heart-wrenching efforts of six musicians working day and night to turn up the volume on their careers. From the streets of South Central Los Angeles to Park Avenue in New York, THIS TIME is a unique musical story about utter dedication to an art form and the transformative power of music.

THIS TIME features recording artists “The Sweet Inspirations,” best known as back-up singers for Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin and the iconic voices on Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man,” New York cabaret singer Bobby Belfry, soul diva Pat Hodges of “Hodges, James & Smith,” and composer-producer Peitor Angell. While revealing a collective battle against self-sabotage and the brutal realities of the music industry, THIS TIME celebrates the prodigious talents and experiences of these musicians in an inspiring story of hope, persistence and faith.  THIS TIME also features original Sweet Inspiration and gospel music star Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston.

THIS TIME 2011, USA, 111 min.  A film by Victor Mignatti.  Produced By Mark Bower and Victor Mignatti.  Photographed, Edited & Directed by Victor Mignatti.  Featuring: The Sweet Inspirations, Peitor Angell, Bobby Belfry, Pat Hodges and Cissy Houston.  Featuring Songs by Peitor Angell and Bobby Belfry. With tight musicians and intriguing lyrics, Happy Freuds delivers high energy guitar rock with stylistic flair on Echo Of Sounds, their debut release. Produced with a minimum of overdubs or fixes, the album consists of a mix of original material, rearrangements of works from others and selected, less known, classic rock.

A kinetic rhythm section is the bones of the music, offering interesting patterns that augment sometimes unexpected harmonic changes. It's brainy rock, in other words, meant for music lovers who can appreciate the quality. Teo's vocals are raspy and expressive, growly when necessary - perfect for the musical mode. Teo also covers lead guitar, adapt at ear worm leads, with a tone that can be clean or dirty as required

Their sound ranges from straight up hard rock in tracks like The Mountain to the pop-flavoured acoustic Background Noise and folky To …
